Vietnam and France have renewed their dedication to advancing their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, focusing on enhanced collaboration across various sectors, including diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. In discussions held in Hanoi, both nations assessed the progress of their bilateral ties and committed to expediting the implementation of their partnership action plan.
Vietnam is seeking to deepen cooperation in areas such as defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, critical minerals, and significant infrastructure initiatives. The country has also urged France to hasten the ratification process of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and to continue advocating for the lifting of the European Union’s “yellow card” on Vietnamese seafood exports, which affects trade.
France views Vietnam as a crucial strategic ally in the Asia-Pacific region and is keen to expand collaboration in sectors like nuclear energy, rare earths, satellite technology, transportation infrastructure, healthcare, and cultural exchanges. The commitment to these areas highlights France’s interest in bolstering its presence and influence in the region.
Both Vietnam and France are determined to enhance their coordination on regional and global issues, with a shared commitment to promoting multilateralism, dialogue, and sustainable development. This includes a pledge to work together more closely within international frameworks and on pressing global challenges.
