England Crushes Fiji with 11 Tries, Pollock Scores Hat-Trick

Date:

In a powerful display at the Nations Championship, England secured an impressive victory over Fiji with an 11-try triumph, marking their first Test win since February. Henry Pollock led the charge with a hat-trick of tries as England capitalized on Fiji’s defensive lapses and ill-discipline, establishing a formidable lead that was never threatened.

The game turned significantly against Fiji just before halftime when their scrum-half, Simione Kuruvoli, received a red card for foul play. This left Fiji one player short for the remainder of the match, further compounding their difficulties. England took full advantage, with Benhard van Rensburg and young debutant Noah Caluori both scoring tries in their first appearances for the national team. Guy Pepper also celebrated his debut international try during the match.

England’s Marcus Smith and Fin Smith orchestrated the attack effectively, while the forwards dominated the set pieces and mauls, stifling any potential momentum from Fiji. Despite the lopsided score, England faced little resistance from a Fiji side plagued by handling errors, penalties, and poor discipline throughout the encounter.

Pollock’s attacking performance was particularly noteworthy, contributing significantly to the one-sided contest. England consistently breached Fiji’s defense, reflecting their superior strategy and execution on the field. This dominant win provides a boost for head coach Steve Borthwick as England prepares for their upcoming tour of Argentina, though they anticipate stiffer competition in the matches ahead.
