Against a backdrop of famine warnings from food security experts, Canada, Britain, and France have issued a unified condemnation of Israel’s military escalation in Gaza and the West Bank. The joint statement described the current level of humanitarian suffering as “intolerable” and labeled recent food aid allowances “wholly inadequate.” The three democratic powers warned they would take “further concrete actions” if Israel continues its military offensive and maintains restrictions on humanitarian assistance. Prime Minister Netanyahu recently announced plans to take complete control of Gaza while ordering evacuations in Khan Younis. The allied powers also criticized West Bank settlements, promising targeted sanctions if expansion continues in territories they consider illegally occupied.
