Filming Starts in Thailand for 2027 John Rambo Prequel

Date:

Production is underway for the new film John Rambo, a prequel set to delve into the early life of the iconic action hero before the events of the 1982 classic, First Blood. Filming is taking place in various locations across Thailand, including the bustling city of Bangkok and the scenic areas of Krabi, Phang Nga, and Kanchanaburi. These diverse settings will provide a blend of urban and rugged landscapes to vividly portray Rambo’s origin story.

Stepping into the shoes of the young John Rambo is actor Noah Centineo, taking on the role that Sylvester Stallone made legendary. The film is directed by Jalmari Helander, recognized for his work on the action thriller Sisu, with Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani penning the screenplay. The prequel seeks to explore the pivotal experiences that molded Rambo into one of the most recognizable figures in action cinema, with a focus on his formative years and the significant events that would shape his future.

The production team features a host of experienced filmmakers and producers, with Sylvester Stallone himself contributing as an executive producer. The project is a collaborative effort, bringing together partners from several major production companies to bring this vision to life. Although specific plot details remain under wraps, the film aims to introduce a younger version of the legendary soldier, appealing to a new generation of audiences.

The Rambo franchise has long been a staple of Hollywood action cinema, spanning five films and amassing over $800 million in worldwide box office earnings. This prequel marks the first significant attempt to revisit the origins of the character, offering fans an opportunity to see how the legendary hero came to be. John Rambo is slated for release in 2027, promising to add a new chapter to the enduring legacy of the action series.
